What is going on with lawns greening up this spring?

Why do some lawns look great while other are slow to green up or possibly even look dead? Predominately, you will notice lawns that have a SOUTH, EAST or WEST exposure are looking poorly. What happened? Primarily, winter desiccation and mite activity has stressed or killed off the grass plant. The weather over the last six months has greatly affected the health of our lawns. Our precipitation is 62% below normal and temperatures have been 2.3 degrees above our average with windy conditions exceeding the normal average. This all leads to the desiccation of your lawn and potential severe mite damage.
