Swingle Lights Children’s Hospital Colorado

Posted on: November 20th, 2015

This time of year is known as the season of giving and often it’s the simple gestures which have the greatest impact on those facing hard times during the holidays.

Swingle can’t begin to fully understand the many challenges facing families along the Front Range during the holiday season. In an effort to help those individuals, we’ve created the Making Spirits Bright campaign to give back to the communities we proudly serve throughout the year.

Swingle began offering holiday lighting services in 1997 and has supported many community programs during the holidays since, like Art Reach and Families First. In recent years, Swingle’s holiday campaign Making Spirits Bright was born when Swingle partnered with Christmas Décor in 2013, with the goal of making a difference in the lives of a military family facing hard times.

The Decorated Family program was created to bring a little extra holiday spirit into the homes of military families preparing for the holidays without their loved ones present or for those who were facing hard times due to illness.

In 2013, Swingle learned about the Anderson family at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, CO, who was dealing with the unimaginable. Major Matt Anderson and his wife discovered earlier in the year that their 5-year-old son had leukemia. With such sadness surrounding the diagnosis and Matt’s commitment to his military schedule, Swingle felt they deserved a little additional holiday cheer.

Continuing with our commitment to “brightening” the community, in 2014 Swingle asked residents across the Front Range to nominate families or individuals facing incredible challenge during the holiday season. Hundreds of people shared their stories and two families were chosen to have their homes lit for the holidays – one in Fort Collins and the other in Centennial.

“We are so grateful for the experience Swingle provided our family last year. It was such a magical experience for the kids during an extremely rough time in our lives and an intensive phase of our daughter’s treatment. Their kindness and generosity really touched our hearts,” said one mother.

In an effort to build upon the inspiration from prior years and positively impact more families and children with Making Spirits Bright, Swingle is partnering with Children’s Hospital Colorado – lighting their north and south campuses with magical holiday lighting displays.

“The holiday season is not just about giving, it’s about children and making their lives more enjoyable. No child should have to spend the holidays in a hospital bed, so this year Swingle’s bringing the holiday experience to them,” says Swingle CEO and Owner, Tom Tolkacz.
