Your Colorado Flower Garden in 5 Steps
Your Colorado Flower Garden in 5 Steps
Date: 5/24/11 | Season: Spring
Are you ready to take the flower garden plunge? Here are a few steps to help you through the process.
- Choose where you will plant your flower garden. If you have a large garden, make sure you plan out the space so you know exactly how many plants you will need. You can always start small and make it bigger every year. If you would like to start with a smaller space, consider creating flower beds. Make sure your space receives the appropriate amount of sunlight for your flowers.
- Next, select which flowers you would like to grow. There are so many themes to choose from! Choose varieties you like to see and smell, select a simple color theme, or use as many colors as you like. You can also select a specific flower-based theme like a rose garden, perennial garden, wildflower garden, etc. Make sure your selections will grow well in your garden.
- Draw up a plan. Grab a sheet of paper and put your plan on paper to make sure you have enough room for all of the flowers you would like to plant. This will be very helpful when you are ready to purchase your flowers.
- Purchase flowers from your local garden center or nursery. Garden centers are usually very helpful if you have questions before making your final purchases.
- Bring your plants home and plant them in the ground!
Planting a beautiful, thriving flower garden takes time. Do not get discouraged if your first year is not perfect. Your gardening skills will get better over time and nothing in your flower garden is permanent. If you do not like something you planted the first year, take it out (roots and all) and plant something different next year.
You will have a wonderfully beautiful flower garden in no time!
